Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known only by the name Christo, (Gabrovo, June 13, 1935 - New York, May 31, 2020) was a Bulgarian-American artist and one of the leading exponents of Land Art.
His installations have traveled the world; in Italy the most famous is certainly "The Floating Piers", the imposing work of art that appeared on Lake Iseo in June 2016.
Another obligatory quote is "The London Mastaba", inspired by the Egyptian monumental tombs.
Christo, with his wife Jeanne-Claude, is recognized as one of the main architects of Land Art and is also the artist who has introduced a new, unprecedented way of expressing himself in the world of art: through the packaging of objects, monuments and landscapes, creating a visual and poetic language, which intervenes on the landscape and modifies it, in a temporary way.
More than a year after his death, in 2020 and 40 years after he had the idea, the latest project by the famous artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude will be completed: wrapping the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
The iconic structure will be wrapped in hundreds of thousands of square meters of blue-silver fabric and nearly two miles of red rope.
"I like that this metallic quality of silver is dominant, with a bluish reflection" - Christo told art critic Amei Wallach in 2019 - and when asked about the red strings - "It is the color of the flag of France", was his reply.
The first of your imagined dreams of him will therefore be the last to come true and like all the others it will be an extraordinary success.
The work we propose here is proof of a new conception of art, of great beauty, created by one of the myths of contemporary art.
The hidden object becomes mysterious, taking on a new aesthetic value.
This beautiful graphic is signed on the front, in the lower central part; it was published in 2003 in the exclusive artistic portfolio "Thomapyrin Kunstedition", released for the benefit of Unicef, in a limited edition of only 100 copies.
The work includes our certificate of authenticity, with photo, description, year and measurements.
