Antique, large and magnificent oil on canvas dating back to the 17th century, so well lead in a representation of a nocturnal battle.
The scenery portrays a fired up battle where a knight with a cross on the chest, riding his white horse, is the key image of the paint.
In the background there is a town with a tower covered by flame.
The painting can be a preparatory sketch for a much bigger representation and it is attributable to the circle of Matthias Stomer (or Stom, Stomma).
Matthias was born, approximately, in 1600, in Amersfoort and he died approximately after 1650, in Sicily.
Painting recanvassing in XIXth century, general condition is good, there are small lacks of the original canvas on the right side (see the photos, please).
The certificate of authenticity is included.
